Saideh Mirzai Dodangeh is a contemporary artist based in Australia, working primarily across ceramics and sculpture. Born in Iran and having migrated to Australia in 2011, her practice is deeply connected to memory, cultural heritage, human stories, belonging, and the idea of home.
For Mirzai, art means home, love, colour, and hope. Drawing from Persian culture, poetry, patterns, calligraphy, textiles, and the rich history of Persia, she transforms cultural and personal memories through contemporary materials and processes.
While she is drawn to the beauty of an artwork, it is often the story and history behind it — and the human experiences held within those stories — that connect with her most deeply. Through clay and sculpture, she explores how memories, histories, and cultural identities can be carried, transformed, and reimagined.
